The Genetics Test

*Announcement through intercom*
The Genetics Test is one that has been performed throughout the ages. It is used in our world to find out a persons biological parent/s. The test itself if harmless but the results can be devastating.Today it is being executed on a one Tara Alcott. The two adults in question are Charlie Whales and Jessica Alcott. Both stand on either end of a hallway shaped-room; Tammy will sit in the middle. When ready we will activate the serum that will determine who Tammy's biological mother is, Charlie or Jessica. Tammy, please take a seat on the ground.

I'd heard about The Test before but never had I seen it performed let alone been apart of one. I took my place to the right of Tammy and stood as still as I could; a bunch of things ran through my head. What if she isn't mine? What if, somehow, Jessica managed to alter the results in her favor? I watched Tammy walk into the middle, she had her head held high and gave me a quick smile before facing forwards. She sat down cross legged on the floor; still facing the wall ahead of her.

*Announcement through intercom*
Stand by; activating serum.

It happened so quick. A blue light started to form beside Tammy. It grew and molded into a very realistic little girl. The little girl was about 9 years of age and had curly, neck length red hair; her natural hair color, my natural hair color. Her yellow eyes shone through the black as she glanced at both ends of the room, falling finally on Jessica.

"Mom?" The little girl questioned taking a small step towards her. I held by breathe, hoping and praying that the young Tammy ran to me. I watched Jessica nod and crouch low to the ground. At that, Tammy walked towards her, her arms stretched outwards, ready for a hug. However, just as she was about to her the other women the little girl turned quickly on her heels and faced me. I felt a smile appear on my face as the girl stood at the other end of the room looking puzzled.

"Charlie?" She whispered, luckily loud enough for me to hear it. I responded by sitting on the ground and crossing my legs. I laughed out loud, notnecessarily because of anything funny but out of happiness. I looked back at the young Tammy and held out my arms for a hug, the same as she had been doing only moments ago.

"It's me Tam" I replied. A smile crossed her face and she ran my way. I smiled even bigger at the irritated look on Jessica's face.

"MOM!" The 9 year old screamed, running right into my arms and I started to stand up never breaking my grip on her. I finally let go and the young Tammy stood by my side with a smile.

*Announcement over intercom*
Very Good, stand by for round 2. Activating serum

For some reason I wasn't expecting a round 2; I thought it was over. It didn't even click that there were two sides to Tammy, so when the wolf came out, I jumped a little.

Just after the intercom announcement came through a light, similar to the first, appeared next to Tammy. It was larger than the first and took longer to form. But when it did, it was breathtaking. An enormous wolf was now standing next to Tammy; its fur was a brickish sort of red with little bits of blonde shining through. Its giant head quickly turned towards Jessica and a startling sound emerged. I've been watching supernatural creatures like this before but I had never heard a sound as menacing as the sound that it made. It growled with such intensity and anger that it made goosebumps appear on my skin.

I watched as the beast lower itself to the ground as it continued to growl. By the sound it was making and it's stance, I knew it was going to attack. Jessica had a look on her face that I know Tammy would have gotten a kick of if she could see it; absolute horror. I knew I had to do something; as much as I didn't like Jessica, I don't like seeing people get hurt.

"Tammy!" I hissed; at that moment the wolf's head whipped around at me, it's yellow eyes shining so bright with fury. I caught my breathe and recomposed myself. "Stop that growling now!" I ordered; this time the wolf changed. It's eyes didn't loose their brightness but they gained happiness and joy. It got to it's full height and started panting. Then it came at me, not in a bad way! It ran up to me and sat, staring at me. Sitting it was about my height and about as wide. "Good girl" I said and rubbed it's head. I watched as it sat on the my other side.

*Announcement over intercom*
That was exciting wasn't it? That concludes this session. It seems that we have our answer. The mother of the one Tara Alcott is Charlie Whales. Have a good day everyone.

I sighed out of relief and looked to my right and left, almost expecting the little girl and gigantic wolf to still be there. They were gone however and I noticed that Tammy was starting to wake up. I ran over to her and helped her stand up; there was a smile on her face.

"So I guess you weren't lying then." Was all she said before she hugged me. I glanced over at Jessica, who didn't seem please. She must have known that Tammy wasn't hers. Or maybe that's why she was so upset; she must have been so hellbent on convincing Tammy that she was her mother. I managed a weak smile at Jessica, one of which she seemed not to have seen because she just stormed out of the room.

"Sore looser huh?" I asked Tammy. She only nodded and smiled.

"You should have seen her at Monopoly. She's worse than me" Tammy replied with another wide smile.

"Well, let's get you home, my little guard dog." I winced when I felt a fist connect with my shoulder. I looked up to the see Tammy strutting in front of me. She looked back and said, "I'm no one's guard dog!'
